Tower Assists On Dwelling Fire In Derry Township |
| Thu, Feb 18th, 2010 11:23:00 pm -
This evening the Tower Truck was dispatched to assist Company 48 on a working structure fire. The truck responded with manpower of 7. Upon arrival, crews were initially sent to the manpower staging area and quickly sent to check the exposure building on Side B of the fire building. After a quick check of the apartments, the Truck crew returned to manpower and were then sent to check the second floor of the fire building and were also sent to assist with exterior operations of the fire building and with master stream operations on Side B / C of the fire building. Chief 456-1 (Orth) and Chief 456-2 (Faleshock) were directed by Chief 48 to assume Interior Operations of the second floor fire building and to evaluate the condition of the building for overhaul operations. After finding several of the roof trusses collapsed onto the stairwell, the chief's made their way to the second floor to find extensive damage and a large amount of water on the floor from master stream operations. A report was given to Operations and crew members from Company 88 also came to assist on the second floor with overhaul. Crews remained on the second floor for several hours until overhaul was complete and a CAFS line from Engine 59 was brought to the second floor to complete the overhaul operations. Shortly after being rehabbed from Canteen 29, Truck 456 was released by command. Pictures to follow. |
